Potassium polyacrylate, a potassium salt of polyacrylic acid, is a type of super-absorbent polymer, with immense water absorption and water holding capacity. It is basically a group of polymeric chains, that are connected together chemically to become a water-insoluble, a net-like matrix that tenderly attracts and holds water molecules.
Potassium polyacrylate increases moisture availability and nutrition to plants. Alongside, it is used as a water retaining agent to avoid soil salinization in agriculture. It can absorb water up to hundreds times of its own weight and turn to water gel.
